Wow! What an incredible year! I was Miss Minnesota...competed at Miss America...graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Chemistry from St. Olaf College...switched careers COMPLETELY...and now I find myself studying TV Broadcast at St. Cloud State University and loving it! Check out some photos (and their captions) of my year in review. Goodbye 2012, hello 2013!

![]() I had the privilege of working with University Television Station at St. Cloud State University this semester. I was selected to anchor the 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Friday newscasts, which aired on Charter Cable channel 21. I plan to re-audition next semester, so I'll keep you posted on what day I am assigned to anchor so you can tune in! Even if you don't live in the St. Cloud area, you can stream the UTVS News broadcasts by going to www.utvsnews.com. I learned SO MUCH in the last semester. You really can't get better hands-on experience in TV broadcast at the college level than at St. Cloud State University. I was thrown head-first into the world of television. I flopped around in the water a bit at first, but I soon found myself swimming! I produced my very first reporter package and I put together a reel of my anchoring from the past semester. I also worked as talent and production crew for Husky Mag, Husky Productions, and UTVS News en Español. Husky Mag provides sports coverage for SCSU and St. Cloud area high schools on Charter Cable channel 21. Husky Productions is an award-winning, professional broadcast of SCSU Husky home hockey games. I work scoreboard on the production crew for HP and I have also created a number of feature packages, teases, and bump shots for the broadcasts. These broadcasts air on Charter channel 87 and sometimes nationally on Dish Network or DirectTV. Follow me @MissMN2011 and HP @hphky on Twitter to stay up to date! I was also asked to do a UTVS News tease for the UTVS News en Español awards newscast. Yes...I spoke Spanish on TV. I look forward to getting more involved with this production next semester to brush up on my Spanish speaking skills! I left St. Olaf equipped with conversational-level Spanish, but I am admittedly quite rusty! Through UTVS and SCSU, I also had the opportunity to volunteer at the Midwest Emmy Gala and tour WCCO in Minneapolis. I can't wait to see what Spring 2013 has in store! Check out my anchor reel as well as some additional photos and videos below! Anchor Reel-Fall 2012 Husky Productions-SCSU vs. CC, Dec. 15, 2012 UTVS News-24th Annual Festival of Lights-Dec. 6, 2012 I had a fabulous girls' night out with some of my Miss Minnesota sisters on Tuesday night! We met to eat, gab, and wish Siri well before she heads off to Miss America! Siri and I ate dinner at the 112 Eatery in Minneapolis with four other Miss Minnesotas: Jo Bender, Vicki Kueppers, Eileen Clift, and Jennifer Ostergaard. I cannot wait for the next get-together! P.S. Don't forget to vote for my girl, Siri Freeh, as your favorite Miss America contestant! Go to www.missamerica.org/videocontest, click on her video, and vote! It's that easy!
