I learned SO MUCH in the last semester. You really can't get better hands-on experience in TV broadcast at the college level than at St. Cloud State University. I was thrown head-first into the world of television. I flopped around in the water a bit at first, but I soon found myself swimming! I produced my very first reporter package and I put together a reel of my anchoring from the past semester.
I also worked as talent and production crew for Husky Mag, Husky Productions, and UTVS News en Español. Husky Mag provides sports coverage for SCSU and St. Cloud area high schools on Charter Cable channel 21. Husky Productions is an award-winning, professional broadcast of SCSU Husky home hockey games. I work scoreboard on the production crew for HP and I have also created a number of feature packages, teases, and bump shots for the broadcasts. These broadcasts air on Charter channel 87 and sometimes nationally on Dish Network or DirectTV. Follow me @MissMN2011 and HP @hphky on Twitter to stay up to date! I was also asked to do a UTVS News tease for the UTVS News en Español awards newscast. Yes...I spoke Spanish on TV. I look forward to getting more involved with this production next semester to brush up on my Spanish speaking skills! I left St. Olaf equipped with conversational-level Spanish, but I am admittedly quite rusty!
Through UTVS and SCSU, I also had the opportunity to volunteer at the Midwest Emmy Gala and tour WCCO in Minneapolis. I can't wait to see what Spring 2013 has in store!
