Natalie has been training vocally for 15 years and is an accomplished singer. She began singing at church when she was 6 years old and has been in love with it ever since.
At 14 years of age, she recorded a 3-song demo CD and music videos with NK Productions in Los Angeles. She also won an award for competition excellence in vocal performance at the Los Angeles International Modeling and Talent Association convention in 2004.
Natalie has participated in over 15 theater productions, holding lead roles such as Psyche in Cupid and Psyche, Hope Langdon in Something's Afoot, Grace Farrell in Annie, and Cinderella in Into the Woods. In 2008, Natalie was awarded an honorable mention for an Outstanding Performance in a Lead Role by the Spotlight Theatre Company for her performance as Cinderella; she subsequently performed in an honoree ensemble at the Orpheum Theater with other award-winning high school students from across Minnesota.
While at Dassel-Cokato High School, Natalie served as an active member of both the Concert Choir and selective Chamber Choir. She received the 2008 National Choral Award and lettered four times in Vocal Music.
During her time at St. Olaf College, Natalie studied voice, performed in recitals, and served as an officer and soprano for both the Manitou Singers and the St. Olaf Chapel Choir. She performed at numerous choral events, including the St. Olaf Christmas Festival, Vespers Concert, Oratorio, St. Olaf Choral Day, and the 2010 Minnesota American Choral Directors Association Convention.
At the 2011 Miss Minnesota pageant, Natalie won a preliminary Talent award for her performance of Nessun Dorma by Giacomo Puccini. To support the Miss America Organization's national platform, the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, Natalie recorded, marketed and sold an original 12-song lullaby CD entitled Sweet Dreams. She also had the opportunity to perform at venues such as the Minnesota State Fair, Mall of America Field, Target Field, Target Center, the 2011 Veteran's Day program, and of course, the 2012 Miss America pageant. One of the highlights from her year was performing the national anthem at the Timberwolves vs. Lakers basketball game in March 2012.
Most recently, she's performed at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka Night of Stars and the Topeka Festival Singers spring concert.
